ClasFlo is designed for school-directed educational use. These Terms are intended to protect students, educators, schools, and the integrity of the platform without taking away rights provided by law or a school or district agreement.
By accessing or using ClasFlo, you agree to follow these Terms and any rules that apply through your school or district. If you are using ClasFlo on behalf of a school or district, you represent that you are authorized to do so.
1. Purpose and Scope
These Terms of Use govern access to and use of ClasFlo, a K–12 instructional and assessment platform for teachers, students, schools, and school districts.
If a school or district has a separate written agreement with ClasFlo, that agreement controls to the extent it conflicts with these Terms.
2. School-Authorized Educational Use
ClasFlo is intended for legitimate educational and school-related purposes. Teachers, students, and other users may use ClasFlo only in ways permitted by their school or district and applicable law.
Use of ClasFlo does not replace a school's responsibility to determine whether a particular feature, integration, or instructional practice is appropriate for its students.
3. Accounts and Access
- Users must provide accurate account information and use only accounts they are authorized to access.
- Users must protect passwords, login links, and other authentication credentials from unauthorized use.
- Teachers and school personnel are responsible for managing classroom access, invitations, rosters, and assignments within the authority granted by their school or district.
- ClasFlo may suspend or restrict access when reasonably necessary to protect users, student information, the service, or the integrity of school activities.
4. Student Accounts and School Authority
Student accounts are intended to be created, assigned, or authorized for school-directed educational use. Schools and districts determine who is permitted to use ClasFlo in their educational environment.
For students under 13, schools or districts may provide authorization when permitted by COPPA for school-based educational use. ClasFlo remains responsible for its own legal obligations and does not treat an individual teacher as automatically responsible for obtaining parental consent.
5. Student Data and Privacy
ClasFlo handles student information according to the ClasFlo Privacy Policy and any applicable school or district agreement.
ClasFlo does not sell or rent student personal information, use student information for targeted advertising, or use school-authorized student information for unrelated commercial purposes.
Schools and districts retain control over the education records they provide to or create through ClasFlo, subject to applicable law and any written agreement.
6. Teacher and School Responsibilities
- Use ClasFlo only with students and classes the user is authorized to manage.
- Configure assignments, grading settings, translation options, live activities, and other classroom tools appropriately for the instructional context.
- Review grades, feedback, AI-assisted output, and instructional recommendations before relying on them for consequential decisions.
- Follow applicable school and district policies concerning student privacy, acceptable use, accessibility, assessment security, and technology use.
- Do not upload or share information that the user is not authorized to provide to ClasFlo.
7. Student Responsibilities
- Use ClasFlo for authorized educational activities.
- Do not access another person's account, impersonate another user, or attempt to bypass classroom or assignment restrictions.
- Do not disrupt live sessions, discussions, assessments, or other classroom activities.
- Do not upload abusive, threatening, unlawful, infringing, or intentionally harmful content.
- Follow teacher, school, and district rules while using ClasFlo.
8. Acceptable Use and Prohibited Conduct
Users may not misuse ClasFlo or interfere with its operation, security, or other users.
- Attempting to gain unauthorized access to accounts, data, administrative functions, source systems, or infrastructure.
- Circumventing authentication, authorization, academic-integrity controls, rate limits, or other security measures.
- Introducing malware, automated abuse, destructive code, or other material intended to damage or disrupt the service.
- Using ClasFlo to harass, threaten, exploit, or unlawfully discriminate against another person.
- Using the service in violation of applicable law, school policy, or the rights of another person.
9. Classroom Content and Ownership
Users retain their rights in original content they create and submit to ClasFlo, including instructional materials and student work, except for rights granted to a school or district under its own policies or agreements.
By submitting content to ClasFlo, the user authorizes ClasFlo to host, process, display, copy, and transmit that content only as reasonably necessary to provide, secure, support, and improve the educational service.
Teachers who choose to publish or share instructional materials are responsible for ensuring they have the right to share those materials.
10. Artificial Intelligence Features
ClasFlo may provide optional AI-assisted features such as question generation, translation, grading assistance, or instructional feedback. AI output can be incomplete, inaccurate, or inappropriate for a particular student or instructional context.
AI-assisted output is intended to support educator judgment, not replace it. Teachers remain responsible for reviewing grades, feedback, accommodations, and other consequential instructional decisions.
Schools and districts may restrict or disable AI features that process student information.
11. Third-Party Services and Integrations
ClasFlo may connect with third-party services such as Google, Supabase, Vercel, and OpenAI when a feature requires those services. Use of a third-party account or service may also be subject to that provider's terms and privacy practices.
A third-party integration may be changed, limited, interrupted, or discontinued by the provider. ClasFlo does not control the availability of third-party services.
12. Academic Integrity Features
ClasFlo may provide tools intended to help teachers manage assessment conditions, including activity or focus indicators. These tools provide contextual signals and should not be treated as definitive proof of misconduct.
Teachers and schools are responsible for reviewing relevant context and following applicable school procedures before making disciplinary or grading decisions based on academic-integrity information.
13. Service Availability and Changes
ClasFlo may update, improve, add, remove, or modify features as the service develops. Reasonable efforts are made to maintain reliable access, but uninterrupted or error-free operation is not guaranteed.
Maintenance, security events, third-party outages, internet connectivity, device restrictions, or school network controls may affect availability.
14. Suspension and Termination
ClasFlo may suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary because of security risks, prohibited conduct, legal requirements, school or district instructions, or material misuse of the service.
Schools and districts may request that accounts or student information under their authority be disabled or deleted, subject to applicable law and legitimate retention requirements.
15. Disclaimer
ClasFlo is an educational technology tool and does not guarantee a particular instructional, academic, assessment, or student outcome. The service and its features are provided on an as-available basis to the extent permitted by law.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to waive rights that students, parents, schools, districts, or users have under applicable law.
16. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, ClasFlo is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of or inability to use the service.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability where such a limitation is prohibited by law or overrides rights provided by a school or district agreement.
17. Changes to These Terms
ClasFlo may update these Terms as the service, law, or school requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when the Terms are materially revised.
Material changes affecting school-authorized student use will be communicated as appropriate before the new terms are applied.
